How Googlebot Renders – BrightonSEO 2019

BrightonSEO is without a doubt one of my favorite conferences. I was absolutely thrilled when ringmaster Kelvin Newman agreed to have me back this year.

Then the audience completely blew me away by voting for my panel, Advanced SEO, to take the main stage.

If you couldn’t make it in person, the Authoritas team live-streamed the event.

If you’re looking to take the stage but a bit nervous, I can’t recommend BrightonSEO enough. As in, I’m not recommending it. I’m directly telling you to go submit your pitch for the next event.

My talk Think like a bot, rank like a boss: How Googlebot renders dove into the workings of Google’s Web Rendering Service (WRS).

Why rendering? Because it’s the gap between what you see and what Google sees!

Not ranking for content? Could be rendering. Clunky page speed? Probably rendering. Check out the video and you’ll learn how the web crawler builds a page, ways to improve the search engine’s understanding, and tactics to navigate the divide between HTML and DOM.

Ready for a deeper dive? The deck is loaded with actionables and tips to run with– aaaaaand a lot of D&D jokes. You’re welcome. Now roll for initiative.
