Teaming up with Google to bust SEO myths about JavaScript

Chrome Developer Summit is a fantastic event and the only thing that could make it better is joining Google’s own Martin Splitt to talk JavaScript and SEO.

Behind the Scenes

So, what’s it like to collaborate with Googlers? It’s pretty amazing– but not for the reasons you’d likely expect.

We recorded in Mountain View, but not in an imposing glass-wall evil tower as you’d probably imagine. The set was in one of the Google Developer buildings.

This is pretty fantastic because the location is a result of the Google Webmaster team being part of Google Developers.

I’ll keep shouting it from the rooftops– SEOs and developers are in this together.

And also a pair of cameramen, a sound guy, and probably the most fantastic wrangler/human you could possibly have, Anna the production manager.

This is my best impression of someone who’s been near a scene clapper.

What’s the trick to seeming so relaxed here? Moments before, Martin and I did our best velociraptor impressions to laugh away the nerves.

LPT: Do whatever you need to so that you’re no longer taking yourself so seriously.

And mad props to the crew who carried about getting the stage ready without a pause. Consummate professionals 😉

Anna, Martin, and the whole crew were absolutely amazing. I was working on a site redesign and balancing an awesome amount of insanity. We called it a wrap and I hopped into an Uber to eat, drink, and product manage!
